HEART SURGERY
Heart and its diseases are divided into two groups: congenital and acquired.
Congenital ones are seen in 8 out of every 1000 births. Infections that the mother may have in the first 8 weeks of pregnancy and that may affect embryological development, some medications used, excessive smoking or alcohol consumption by the mother and genetic diseases can cause Congenital Heart Diseases to occur.
Acquired heart diseases mainly consist of rheumatic and coronary heart diseases.
Rheumatic heart disease occurs when rheumatic fever experienced during childhood affects the heart and is quite rare in developed countries.
Coronary artery disease is a disease that occurs due to the partial or complete interruption of blood flow due to narrowing or blockage of the arteries that feed the heart, called “coronary arteries”. Coronary artery diseases are the leading cause of death in our country.
